Hey! I'm Mike, twenty something, musically promiscuous and unfortunately, yes I'm Ginger. I play Saxophones, Flute and Keyboards, specialising in Hammond Organ and Fender Rhodes. I started playing at the age of 12 so that I could escape Maths lessons on a Tuesday. Graduating from LIPA in 2005 with a first class honors degree, I went on to tour Europe with the Official Blues Brothers Show for several months.

You may remember me from the Sam Brown Band, Sax Assault or The Muffin Men who I have toured with extensively.

Currently, I'm working as a session musician, playing keys and saxophones for a multitude of bands and artists.

Having worked with Steve Winwood, Sandy Thom, Ian Paice (deep purple) and Candie Payne in the last few months, I am enjoying playing, recording and touring with the various projects mentioned below.

I teach Sax and Keyboards to all ages and abilities.

Debut Album

Having thought about doing this for several years, and featuring on countless albums by other people, I have finally decided to take the plunge. Inspired by a recent journey through Africa and generally by having some more time on my hands, I started writing late in 2008. Really what I wanted to achieve more than anything else was a document of where I am both musically and personally. The result has been quite an eclectic one, featuring the talents of Jay Irving on drums and JJ Rio on electric bass augmented with guest musicians from every genre, and myself on keyboards and saxophones.

The as yet unnamed album is due to be released later in 2009 on an independant record label, and will be available on itunes and at performances.

For several years now I have been a founding member of this fantasic four piece group based in Liverpool, playing covers and putting our own brand of groove to each classic soul/R&B track in the set. Not only are the players amongst the best in their field, they are also my best friends. Having all met at LIPA-this combination makes for a fantastic output of highly energised party music ideal for any occasion.

Occasionally I get the honour of performing with Andy Scott's Sax Assault. This band features nine saxophones from sopranino to bass, backed by grooves from a four piece rhythm section.

Saxophonist and award winning composer Andy Scott ingeniously tailors his compositions to combine the talents of some of the best UK saxophonists from jazz, pop and classical genres. A project that I am very proud to be associated with.

Keith Wilson & The Methylated Spiritualists

Having been working with this unique talent since the first album release in early 2008,

I teamed up with Keith Wilson to co-write the second album "Rapscallion Bop" released February 2009 receiving excellent reviews from media across the country.

The Grapes Band

I have been playing with the Grapes band since its conception back when I was a teenager, and have never stopped learning from playing with this bunch of highly gifted jazz players. The Grapes band (formed at the Grapes pub hence the name) features a 7 piece lineup, specialising in afro-cuban music never fails to entertain even the harshest of critics.
